Artspeak Gallery was founded as an offshoot of the KSW's programme by Erin O'Brien. Their mandate, as befits, is to promote works in a tradition of text-based, conceptual art. Over the years, many KSW-affiliated writers and artists have shown there, or published through Artspeak, and readings have been held here. In the mid-1990s, when KSW appeared to be facing a crisis of continuity, a very well-attended public AGM was held at Artspeak, where the extended community had their say in determining the future direction of the KSW.
